What is infrared imaging?
Digital infrared thermal imaging is a totally non-invasive clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries, by showing the thermal abnormalities present in the body.
It is used as an aid for diagnosis and prognosis, as well as monitoring therapy progress, within many clinical fields, including:
- Neurology
- Sports Medicine
- Rheumatology
- Dentistry
- Oncology
- Pediatrics
- Chiropractic
- Breast Health
- Physiotherapy
- Orthopedics

 Thermographic Exam |
Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (D.I.T.I.)
is filling the gap in clinical diagnosis.
- X-Ray, C. T., Ultrasound and M.R.I. are all tests of anatomy.
- E.M.G. is a test of motor physiology.
- D.I.T.I. is unique in its capacity to show physiological change and metabolic processes.
- D.I.T.I. is a very useful complementary procedure to other diagnostic tools.

Infrared imaging used to evaluate neck pain |
Procedure
Unlike most diagnostic tests, D.I.T.I. is non invasive and there are no risks or side effects.
Using the latest digital technology, images, or thermograms, are taken using an infrared camera. These images can assess the whole body or just areas of particular concern.
Your reports are colour printed and can also be sent to your healthcare professional.
The digitised images are stored on a computer and can be sent electronically to a thermal imaging specialist for further evaluation if required. |

Applications
With painful back disorders, Infrared Imaging is used to graphically illustrate soft tissue injury and nerve root involvement. |
 |
| Nerve irritation can show as an abnormal cold pattern. Measuring this response with D.I.T.I. is the only method available for 'visualising' and recording your feeling of pain. |
 |
| Arthritic disorders generally appear as 'hot areas', since the affected sites are usually inflamed. |
 |
| A painful ankle injury can be monitored throughout treatment and rehabilitation. |
 |
D.I.T.I. is cost effective, risk free and provides instant images.
D.I.T.I. can be used to assess pain in any part of your body.
Whether your pain is 'Acute' or 'Chronic', D.l.T.l. can help you and your healthcare professional to safely bring you back to better health.
DITI has been recognized as a viable diagnostic tool since 1987 by the AMA Council on Scientific Affairs, the ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging, the Congress of Neurosurgeons in 1988 and in 1990 by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. |
