EGCG, the active chemical in Green Tea taken as a supplement has now normalized Lymphocytic White Blood Counts in two patients treated in our Practice who were diagnosed with CHRONIC LYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA (CLL).
According to a Study that can be seen in the link below;
http://bloodjournal.
epigallocatechin-3-gallate or EGCG affects VEGF receptor phosphorylation status and apoptosis in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) is secreted when new blood vessels are growing to feed a newly growing cancer. Its found in many cancerous tumors and also in the cell membranes of the cancerous lymphocytes of CLL.
ECGC which is found in Green Tea can be concentrated and sold as capsules available for sale in Health Food Stores and on the Internet has now been used in two separate patients in our practice to normalize abnormal White Blood lymphocyte cell counts; one patient from 50,000 to 17,000 in one month and another from 30,000 to less than 10,000 in just one month after starting therapy.
We have yet to try it on other cancer and precancerous patients with Elevated VEGF levels and that evaluation is now in process.
An average cup of properly brewed Green Tea has approximately 50mg of EGCG while the above article suggests the need of upwards of 2000mg a day to be clinically effective, hence the need of the concentrated capsules
